Privacy Policy

Effective date:

We collect what you submit in our forms and some technical data to run the site. If you ask us to, we share your enquiry with relevant professionals so they can contact you. You can ask for access or correction at any time. For privacy questions or complaints, email gigi@buy-solar.com.

1) Who we are

TGND (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates buy-solar.com (the “Site”). We help people submit enquiries so we can introduce them to relevant professionals (“Professionals”), and we publish editorial content.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2) Scope of this policy

This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with (including when you ask us to introduce you to a Professional), cookies/analytics, overseas disclosures, security and retention, direct-marketing choices, and how to access, correct or complain about our handling of personal information.

3) Information we collect

  • Information you provide via forms

When you submit an enquiry or request an introduction, we typically collect your name, email, phone, suburb/state, preferred contact time, details about the help you want (including any budget/timing notes) and any files you upload. If you register or work with us as a Professional, we may collect business contact details, licensing/insurance information, service areas and notes from vetting.

Please avoid providing “sensitive information” (e.g., health information, racial/ethnic origin). If you choose to include it, you consent to our handling it only as needed to process your request.

  • Automatically collected data

When you visit the Site we (and our service providers) may collect IP address, device/browser details, pages viewed, timestamps, referrers/UTM tags and similar technical information. We use cookies and similar technologies for core functionality, security, performance and analytics.

4) How we use personal information

  • Provide and improve the service: assess your enquiry; match and introduce you to suitable Professionals at your request; operate, secure and improve the Site (including spam/fraud prevention and diagnostics).
  • Communications: send service messages about your enquiry; request feedback; and—where you’ve consented or as otherwise permitted—send marketing updates (you can opt out anytime).
  • Legal and risk management: comply with laws, enforce our terms, and manage disputes and claims.

5) Disclosing information

  • Introductions you request: If you ask us to connect you, we disclose the minimum details needed (e.g., name, contact details, suburb, service brief and relevant attachments) to one or more matched Professionals so they can contact you with options/quotes. Each Professional becomes the controller of the copy they receive and will handle it under their own privacy policy.
  • Service providers: We use reputable vendors for hosting, form/CRM and email/SMS tools, analytics/measurement, content delivery, and security (e.g., anti-bot services). They may only process personal information on our instructions and must protect it appropriately.
  • Legal, safety and business transfers: We may disclose information as required by law, to protect our rights, users and the public, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or restructuring (where the recipient will be bound by this or an equivalent policy).

6) Marketing choices

We send commercial emails/SMS only in accordance with Australian law (including the Spam Act). Every marketing message includes an unsubscribe option that works. You can opt out at any time; we action opt-outs promptly.

7) Cookies, analytics & anti-bot tools

  • Cookies & local storage: used for sign-in, preferences and performance. You can control cookies via your browser settings; some features may not work if certain cookies are disabled.
  • Analytics/measurement: we may use analytics to understand traffic and improve the Site. These providers may set their own cookies or receive limited technical data from your browser.
  • Spam/fraud prevention: our forms may use services such as reCAPTCHA or similar anti-bot tools. Where used, the provider’s privacy policy and terms also apply; we link to them on affected forms/pages.

8) Overseas disclosures

Some service providers (or their sub-processors) may store or access personal information in other countries. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure recipients protect it consistently with the APPs.

9) Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information (including HTTPS, access controls and vendor due-diligence). No method is completely secure. If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will assess and—where required—notify affected individuals and the regulator under Australia’s Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

10) Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes set out in this policy (and any additional period required by law or to establish/defend legal claims), then we delete or de-identify it. Indicative periods (to be tailored as needed):

  • Enquiry & referral records: up to 24 months.
  • Professional vetting/billing records: up to 7 years.
  • Marketing subscriptions: until you unsubscribe or your account becomes inactive (e.g., 24 months).

11) Access and correction

You can request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. We will respond within a reasonable period (usually within 30 days) and may need to verify your identity. If we refuse a request (where an APP exception applies), we will tell you why and how to complain.

12) Children

Our services are intended for adults. If you are under 16, please do not submit personal information without a parent or guardian’s consent.

13) Editorial content & third-party links

Articles on the Site are general information only and are not professional advice. We may link to third-party sites and services; their privacy practices are their own and we encourage you to review their policies.

14) Questions & complaints

If you have a question, concern or complaint about privacy, please email gigi@buy-solar.com. We will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) via the OAIC website.

15) Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top shows the latest version. Significant changes will be highlighted on the Site.
